I have always been a true competitor at heart and do not back down from challenges.  However, I have come to the realization that I need to get back in the mentality that I once had.  Soccer is a sport that should be enjoyed for the freedom that it offers.  At this moment I am in a 4 game slump.  What I mean by that, is that I'm not playing to my fullest potential.  I have been part of many great teams, and we have won many championships for various leagues in the DFW area.  However, I feel like I need a tune up.  I have been in slumps before and it happens to everybody who plays the sport.  Some days you are just not yourself.  In my opinion, the best way to break a slump is to go back to the fundamentals.  I'm not talking about the physical fundamentals, but rather the mental fundamentals.  I need to play with a carefree attitude and just enjoy the sport for what it is.  Soccer is a sport where you can run loose and just enjoy the outdoors for 90 minutes.  In today's game against the Tornadoes I will once again put the fundamentals to the test and just enjoy the freedom of the game.  I hope this works.  In case this does not work, please let me know what you do to get out of a slump.
