Yes and no. You are not required to speak with the police as they arrive at the scene of a car crash, but are required to show identification, insurance, and registration. If you would not like to speak with the officers, please let them know you would like an attorney present and be polite. Anything you say to the police will be noted by the police and can be used in the legal record. Some of this information can be useful to you so keep in mind all that is said for the record.
