After assessing the situation and making sure nobody is injured, call the police and make a police report. Make sure to take pictures and notes during the entire interaction to assure nothing gets lost in translation. Call the rental car company and report the incident, they will be able to tell you the next steps of what to do with the car. If it is drivable they might have you bring it back to the lot. If it is unable to operate, they should contact you with a towing company. From there, the responsibility comes from the situation itself. The company itself, your car insurance company, or your credit card company can cover the expenses.
